Description

Making this excursion to Machu Picchu By Car you will have a beautiful panorama full of landscapes and snowy mountains as Chicon, salkantay and Veronica that shows our Peruvian Andean highlands with asphalt roads and very friendly people.

The Machu Picchu by Car tour is a practical and alternative way to reach the sanctuary without depending on the train. It combines a scenic drive through the Andes and the high jungle with a light walk from Hidroelectrica to Aguas Calientes.
It’s the perfect option for travelers looking for an authentic journey, where every part of the route becomes part of the experience and brings you closer to the history and natural beauty surrounding Machu Picchu.

Day 1: Cusco – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes

The adventure begins with a scenic drive from Cusco through the Sacred Valley, passing traditional Andean villages such as Chinchero, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo. From there, the route climbs to the Malaga Pass, offering striking views of snow-capped mountains before descending into the lush cloud forest.
The journey continues through Santa María and Santa Teresa, where travelers stop for lunch and a short rest before reaching Hidroelectrica. From this point, a pleasant three-hour walk along the train tracks leads through the rainforest and river landscapes until arriving in Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu.
Upon arrival, travelers settle into their accommodation and have free time to explore, relax in the hot springs, or simply rest. Dinner is served in a local restaurant before spending the night in the hotel.

Day 2: Machu Picchu – Hidroelectrica – Cusco

Early in the morning, the group heads up to Machu Picchu, either by foot or by bus (optional). Once inside the sanctuary, the guide leads a detailed two-hour tour through the main areas of the Inca city, explaining its history, purpose, and connection with nature.
After the guided visit, there is free time to explore on your own, take photos, or enjoy the incredible atmosphere of the site. In the afternoon, travelers return on foot to Hidroelectrica, where private transportation awaits for the return journey to Cusco.
The trip ends with the drive back across the valleys and mountains that link the Andes to the jungle, closing an authentic experience that combines adventure, history, and breathtaking scenery.
