Description

Manu Tour 7 Days, allows you to have one of the best experiences in the Manu National Park which includes the Reserved Zone. In the Reserved Zone of the Manu we will set up camp at the “Casa matshiguenka” lodge which is run by the local community of the Matshiguenka. Feel free to explore the natural mirror lakes of Salvador and Otorongo in order to observe the curious and restless giant otters.

The Manu 7 Days Tour is a full immersion into the Peruvian jungle. In just one week, you travel from the mountains of Cusco to the heart of the Amazon, crossing winding roads, powerful rivers, and endless forests. Along the way, you’ll encounter vibrant wildlife, local communities, and nights filled with the sounds of the rainforest and a sky full of stars. It’s a journey that blends adventure, serenity, and wonder — perfect for travelers who want to disconnect and truly experience the spirit of Manu.

Day 1: Cusco – Cloud Forest – Pilcopata Lodge

We begin our adventure early in the morning, leaving Cusco by private transport. Along the way, we’ll visit the pre-Inca funerary towers of Ninamarca and the picturesque colonial town of Paucartambo. As we descend into the lush cloud forest, we’ll stop for lunch surrounded by a vibrant landscape filled with orchids, ferns, and bromeliads. Keep your eyes open for the Cock-of-the-Rock, Peru’s national bird, as well as spectacled bears and playful monkeys. By afternoon, we’ll arrive in Pilcopata, where our cozy lodge awaits.

Day 2: Pilcopata – Aguas Calientes – Boca Manu

After breakfast, we’ll take an invigorating walk through the forest to observe colorful birds and local wildlife. Later, we visit a coca plantation and a small animal rescue center before heading to Port Atalaya, where our boat journey down the Alto Madre de Dios River begins.
As we drift along, we’ll witness the dazzling variety of herons, cormorants, and vultures that inhabit the riverbanks. We’ll stop to relax in natural hot springs, a perfect jungle retreat, before continuing our voyage to Boca Manu, where we’ll spend the night in a comfortable jungle lodge.

Day 3: Boca Manu – Reserved Zone – Casa Machiguenga.

Early in the morning, we’ll visit the famous Parrot Clay Lick, a spectacle of color and sound as hundreds of parrots and macaws gather to feed on mineral-rich clay. After a brief stop at the Limonal Control Post, we enter the core of the Manu Biosphere Reserve, one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth.
During our river journey, we might spot capybaras, caimans, river turtles, monkeys, and even a jaguar resting by the riverbank. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the pristine forest on foot before spending the night at Casa Machiguenga, a rustic lodge managed by local communities.

Day 4: Reserved Zone – Cocha Salvador Lake

With the soft morning light, we’ll explore Cocha Salvador Lake aboard a catamaran, gliding silently as we search for the giant river otters, an endangered species that thrives here. We’ll also encounter black caimans, herons, toucans, and multiple species of monkeys. After lunch, a guided forest walk reveals the secrets of medicinal plants and tropical ecosystems.
At night, an optional walk allows us to spot frogs, snakes, and nocturnal insects, revealing the mysterious side of the jungle.

Day 5: Reserved Zone – Lake Otorongo – Boca Manu

After breakfast, we’ll visit Lake Otorongo, climbing a 15-meter observation tower to admire the surrounding forest canopy and the reflections of the lake below. With luck, we may observe giant otters and macaws flying overhead.
We’ll continue our navigation downstream, keeping watch for caimans, turtles, and wading birds. Upon arrival at Boca Manu, we’ll enjoy a relaxing evening and a well-deserved rest at the lodge.

Day 6: Boca Manu – Amazon Manu Lodge

We’ll board our boat once again and navigate upstream along the Alto Madre de Dios River, surrounded by breathtaking Amazonian landscapes. On the way, we may stop to enjoy the soothing thermal waters before continuing to Amazon Manu Lodge.
Here, you’ll have time to relax, enjoy the tranquil atmosphere, and immerse yourself in the sounds of the jungle. In the evening, you may join an optional night walk to discover nocturnal creatures under the stars.

Day 7: Amazon Manu Lodge – Cusco.

After an early breakfast, we’ll start our return journey by boat to Port Atalaya, where our private vehicle will be waiting to take us back to Cusco. We’ll arrive in the city by evening, carrying unforgettable memories of our deep connection with the Amazon rainforest.

Important Notes:
  • Health & Safety: The Manu National Park 7 Days / 6 Nights tour takes place in a non-endemic area for malaria and yellow fever. Bringing a good insect repellent is highly recommended. If you wish to get the yellow fever vaccine as a preventive measure, make sure to do so at least 10 days before your trip to the jungle.
  • Program Flexibility: Please note that due to the unpredictable forces of nature, the itinerary may be subject to change at any time. Weather conditions, river levels, or wildlife activity can occasionally require adjustments to ensure your safety and the best possible experience.
  • Remote Location: Manu remains one of the most pristine rainforests in the world precisely because of its isolated location. This means the journey involves long travel times by road and river, especially during the first few days. However, it also guarantees an authentic adventure through untouched ecosystems, rich in extraordinary wildlife and lush vegetation found nowhere else on Earth.
  • Group Composition: Each group may include travelers with different tour durations (3, 4, 5, or 8 days). Despite varying schedules, all participants share the same unforgettable experience of exploring the incredible biodiversity of Manu. Manu is not just a destination — it’s a journey into the heart of nature, where every moment reveals the beauty and power of the Amazon rainforest.
